Learn To Skate is open to boys and girls ages 3 to 8, focusing on fundamental skating skills including forward skating, turning, and stopping, plus enjoying physical activity. It is the recommended first step before 'Learn to Play β Micro' hockey. The program runs mid-November through mid-March, with sessions on Saturdays at noon at the O'Neil rink on Union Street. Equipment: hockey skates, hockey helmet with cage or full-face shield, heavy gloves or mittens, knee pads or ski/snow pants, elbow pads; no hockey sticks.
