The Boston Neighborhood Basketball League (BNBL), run by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, is the oldest municipal youth basketball league in the United States, established in 1969. It is a city-run summer league for Boston youth ages 6-18, with boys' and girls' divisions at 18U, 15U, 13U, and 11U; teams compete weekly from early July through mid-August with a championship series. A free Pee Wee Developmental program (ages 6-11) runs at BCYF community centers. Note: this is a municipal program, not a volunteer-run club.
The 2026 season ran July 6 through August 20, ending with the Celebration of Champions; registration at boston.gov/parks-sports.
