Travel for ages 9β12; player pitching starts at 10U
Belmont Youth Baseball/Softball (BYBS) is a parent-volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Belmont youth baseball and softball.
Baseball (ages 5β15): in-town recreational leagues (Single A, Minors, Majors); spring travel for ages 9β12 (grades 3β6, Friday-evening games against nearby towns such as Lexington, Wellesley, and Weston, early April to early June, with winter workouts in late FebruaryβMarch at Belmont High School's gym); Babe Ruth for ages 13β15 (grades 7β9) in the Arlington-managed league (April through the end of the school year, with preseason tryouts; summer Babe Ruth in the Lou Tompkins league, ages 13β18). Summer options also include the Middlesex League (9U/10U), the Bay State League (the most competitive travel option, weekend games), an 11U/12U Watertown 50/70 program, and a skills-only summer program at Grove Street. Softball (Kβ9th grade): 6U in-town (K & 1st), 8U/10U travel in the CityTown League (Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Charlestown, Medford, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, Winchester), and competitive 12U/14U; spring season runs April to mid-June, and no tryouts are required for softball.
Main fields: Grove Street Park (120 Grosvenor St β main baseball complex, 3 fields); Chenery Middle School (95 Washington St β main softball location, offline for renovations starting spring 2026, locations TBD); Concord Ave softball field (365 Concord Ave β also under renovation in spring 2026).
Spring 2026 softball registration closed on February 14, 2026 (after that, only new K & 1st-grade players may register). The site does not state when registration opens, and baseball registration timing is not published on the site either.
